Open Car Carrier vs Enclosed Car Carrier: Which Is Better?
Both carrier types move cars safely every day in India, and neither is automatically the right answer. The difference is exposure, price and the kind of vehicle you are moving. Here is how to think about it.
What an open carrier is
An open carrier is a truck with an exposed deck, often multi-level. Vehicles sit in the open air for the whole journey, secured over the wheels. It is the most common and usually the least expensive way to move a standard car, and it is what most dealership and factory stock travels on.
What an enclosed or closed body carrier is
An enclosed carrier — also called a closed body carrier — has a covered container-style body. The deck is shielded from rain, dust, road grit and view for the entire trip. It costs more to run, and that is reflected in the price, but nothing on the outside of the vehicle is exposed to the highway.

When an open carrier makes sense
- An everyday hatchback or sedan already in regular use
- Cost is the deciding factor
- You need capacity quickly on a busy corridor
- A short intercity move in dry conditions
When enclosed transport is the better call
- Luxury, performance or collector vehicles
- A new car, or one with fresh paint or wrap
- Long monsoon-season journeys
- Low clearance or body-kitted cars needing careful loading
- You simply do not want road grit and weather on the car for 2,000 km
What we actually operate
Aggarwal Car Carrier moves vehicles in closed body carriers only — we do not run open decks. That applies to a hatchback and a luxury sedan alike. Where a vehicle needs the least possible handling, a dedicated single closed body carrier can be arranged subject to route availability.
If cost is your main concern, the saving on our routes comes from sharing a closed body deck rather than from switching to an open one.

Is an open carrier unsafe?
No. Vehicles are secured the same way; the difference is exposure to weather and road dust rather than the security of the load.
Is enclosed transport much more expensive?
It generally costs more than an open deck. On a shared closed body carrier the difference narrows, because the trip cost is still split across several vehicles.
